When it seems that needs are piling up all around you and no one understands, remember that the Lord understands your needs: “Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite” (Psalm 147:5).
Below, you will find a list of needs that many families in full-time Christian service (as well as many laymen) have, along with a Bible verse for each one:
When you need acceptance because you are being criticized…look for the truth and let the rest go.
“And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him…but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.” 1 Samuel 30:6
When you need assurance because you are doubtful…know that without faith, it is impossible to please God.
“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Hebrews 11:6
When you need to forgive or be forgiven…remember God’s forgiveness for us for Christ’s sake.
“And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” Ephesians 4:32
When you need to know what is expected of you…ask.
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” James 1:5
When you need to know what to do when your expectations are not met…be thankful.
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” Jeremiah 29:11
Remember the beginning of gratitude is the expectation of nothing.
When you need to know how to deal with disappointments…know that you can draw closer to God in those times.
“Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept thy word.” Psalm 119:67
When you need to have companionship in those lonely times…know that the Lord wants to be your best Friend.
“A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.” Proverbs 18:24
What a friend we have in Jesus; all our sins and
griefs to bear
What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer
O, what peace we often forfeit; O, what needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.
When you need to know how the Lord is going to meet that financial need…start counting your many blessings and how He has met needs in the past.
“Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.” Psalm 100:4
“But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 15:57
“In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18
When you need to know how to handle a health issue…know that nothing takes God by surprise.
“For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” Romans 8:18
“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9
When you need to structure your time to meet the demands in your life…remember to prioritize the important things.
“So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” Psalm 90:12
“But God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13b
When you need help when tragedy strikes…know that God is working behind the scenes.
“Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.” 1 Peter 4:12–13
“But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.” Job 23:10
When you need to deal with complaining, discontentment, and ingratitude…know that the joy of the Lord is your strength.
“For the joy of the LORD is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10b
“Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.” Philippians 4:4
When you need wisdom regarding relationships in your life…know that God has placed you in that sphere of influence to make a difference.
“And who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” Esther 4:14
