“I love to tell the story of Jesus and His love,” declared the songwriter, Katherine Hankey. Fanny Crosby wrote, “Tell me the story of Jesus, write on my heart every word. Tell me the story most precious, sweetest that ever was heard. Tell how the angels, in chorus, sang as they welcomed His birth, ‘Glory to God in the highest! Peace and good tidings to earth.’”
Truly, history is “His story.” And, the Christmas story is the greatest story ever told. Just who is, “He that came down from heaven” (John 3:13)? Why did He come? How does His story affect the story of my life?
The Lord Jesus Christ—Son of man—Son of God—Saviour of the world—was born to die that we might live. God’s promise to us is, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved:… For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:9,13).
The Christmas story is one of love, sacrifice, and redemption. Why not receive God’s gift of forgiveness of sin today through faith in the Lord (Master) Jesus (Saviour) Christ (Promised Messiah—Sent One)?
It is my prayer that the Christmas story of immeasurable love, willing sacrifice, and eternal redemption will be your story from this day forward.
