The Bible says we need to go into the whole world and preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to everyone. It is our responsibility to go. It is our privilege to go. It is a biblical mandate for us to go. People are depending upon us to go. But the question that must be answered is—how should we go? What attitude should we have as we go? We should have the action right, but we should also have the attitude right. We might be doing the right thing but it may not be flowing from a pure heart.
Let’s consider these four ways we should go soulwinning:
1. We should go compassionately.
Matthew 9:35-36 says, “And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.”
Again God says in Jude 22, “And of some have compassion, making a difference:”
And Psalm 126:5-6, “They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.”
2. We should go compellingly.
Luke 14:21-23 says, “So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind. And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room. And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.”
3. We should go courageously.
Acts 4:14-21 says, “And beholding the man which was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it. But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves, Saying, What shall we do to these men? for that indeed a notable miracle hath been done by them is manifest to all them that dwell in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it. But that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name. And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard. So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding nothing how they might punish them, because of the people: for all men glorified God for that which was done.”
4. We should go continually.
Acts 8:4 teaches, “Therefore they that were scattered abroad went everywhere preaching the word.” And 1 Corinthians 9:16, “For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!”
As we go soulwinning let’s remember that both our actions and attitudes are linked to our fruit in soulwinning. May we go the way God desires for us.
