Text: Luke 2:41-52

Title: The Missing Gift

Introduction: Today we’re going to learn about the Missing Gift. Have you ever lost a gift? Amazingly, many people who receive Christ, and who claim to believe He is all to them, soon live life without thinking of Him.

Let’s consider some counsel from Joseph and Mary on how not to travel with Jesus!

I. Look past the Calendar—v. 41

A. The procedures of life—v. 42

B. The presumption of His presence—vs. 43–44

II. Look for the Saviour—v. 45

A. With proper direction—they turned back again

1. Turn from sin

2. Turn from idolatry

3. Turn from hindrances

B. With proper focus—they sought Him

III. Pattern after the Saviour—vs. 46–49

A. Jesus was doing the will of the Father—v. 49

1. His example

2. Our command

B. Jesus was in the house of God

C. Jesus fellowshipped around the Word of God—vs. 46-47

1.   His companions were spiritual

2. His concerns were biblical

Conclusion: Where did they find Jesus? Right where they had left Him!

James 4:8
Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
