Title: Four Motivations for Serving Christ

Text: 2 Corinthians 5:7-14

Introduction: My beliefs motivate me to serve Jesus Christ.

I. Heaven—The Presence of the Lord, v. 7-8

A. We have a confident faith—a faith based on absolute truth (v. 8a)

B. We have a captivating faith—God will transport us to Heaven immediately upon death (v. 8b)

C. We have a conscientious faith—a faith that puts us to work (v. 9a)

II. Rewards—The Judgment Seat of Christ, v. 10

A. Love—the purest reason for serving Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 5:14)

B. Fear—fear of chastisement (Hebrews 12:5-6)

C. Rewards —crowns, gold, silver, precious stones, and treasures (1 Corinthians 3:12)

III. Hell—The Terror of the Lord, v.11

A. The terror of an early death (Acts 5)

B. The terrors of the Tribulation (Revelation 6:16)

C. The ultimate destiny of the unbelievers

1. Hell (Luke 16:23)

2. The Lake of Fire (Rev. 20:14-15)

IV. Love—The Love of the Lord

A. The love of Christ for me (v. 14-15 )

B. My love for Christ
