Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.— Psalm 37:4
What is a birthday without a birthday cake? As we get older, we may act like birthday cakes do not mean as much on our birthdays, but I am sure one still brings a smile to your face. My eleven-year-old granddaughter, Megan, recently had a birthday, but it happened to fall on the day her family was moving from sunup to sundown to a house (that was still under construction) on their new church property.
Birthday celebrations were made earlier in the week in case ‘the real day’ was not a ‘good day’ for a birthday, but my daughter frantically tried to plan a few minutes to pick up a cake between packing, cleaning, moving, unpacking, and getting ready for their third, Sunday service the next day.
As the family worked around the unfinished kitchen flooring, passing by the cabinets with no countertops and no kitchen sink, and brushing by the appliances sitting in the dining room as they moved boxes, clothes, and furniture to designated areas, there was a knock on the door.
A lady who had started visiting their church brought over a meal and a chocolate sheet cake on that move-in day. Did she know it was Megan’s birthday? No, she was delighted to know the Lord used her to make one young lady very happy on her birthday. Chocolate cake with chocolate frosting is Megan’s favorite cake. Guess what kind of cake the Lord made for Megan? God is so good to His children. What kind of cake has the Lord made you lately?
