Ladies Night Out
“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.” Galatians 5:16
To begin our “Walking in the Spirit” Ladies Night Out, the ladies walked right into a shoe shop! (Well, our church lobby that had been transformed...) Tables of shoes and displays surrounded the edges of the lobby as the ladies walked through the shoe store and into the auditorium. Just before the program began, we watched a short video containing pictures of a variety of shoes from around the world. This funny and interesting video was followed by a skit combined with a song, “Keep Walking with the Lord,” sung by a ladies quartet. This skit was followed by a brief welcome and an invitation to sing the song along with the quartet. After the singing, it was game time! The first game, “Find Your Shoes,” was a very exciting game as ladies had to filter through bags of shoes to find their own. The catch: they were blind folded! The prize: hand sanitizers! (And they needed it after digging through a bunch of smelly shoes!)
The game was followed by “The Price is Right” and a final game of “Who’s Shoes.” In this game, several pairs of shoes graced the platform, and the owners sat barefoot in the choir loft behind them. The ladies of the church had to guess which pair of shoes matched the owners. After the fun games, we sang “Just a Closer Walk with Thee” and “My Lord Knows the Way through the Wilderness” before Mrs. Chappell introduced our guest speaker. The ladies quartet sang a special song entitled “Walk On” and Mrs. Virginia Sisk brought a wonderful lesson from God’s Word, challenging us to be ladies who walk in the Spirit.
At the conclusion of the night, we announced the winners of the “shoe contest” (in which each Sunday school class decorated a pair of shoes and competed against other classes for creativity.) We also announced the winner of the door prize who received a gift certificate for a pedicure! The night was an encouragement and blessing to the ladies of our church! They left ready to follow Jesus more closely!
