Ladies Night Out
1 Peter 3:4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
The “Meek and Quiet Spirit” Ladies Night Out was a special evening of fun and spiritual growth! As the ladies walked into the building from the outside, they were greeted by a beautiful horse and rider. The outside of the building had been transformed into a barn that added to the cowboy ambiance. Upon entry into the building, bluegrass music played as ladies found their seats and prepared for a night of fellowship and making memories.
The service began with a cowgirl sitting by a fire in a far off mountain singing (the choir loft), complete with howling coyotes in the background. A quartet of cowgirls followed this special with one of their own songs “Ride On.” The tune was catchy and the words were very appropriate for the theme.
After a brief time of singing, a few ladies enjoyed bobbing for apples that were hanging from a stick above their heads. They also eagerly participated in a “cowgirl dress up” relay, in which the volunteers put on a variety of cowgirl accessories, ran around the perimeter of the auditorium riding a stick horse, and returned to their teammates who would repeat the process. The winning team received delicious licorice ropes.
After the offertory by the bluegrass band, Mrs. Chappell introduced our guest speaker. A special song, “My Life Is Yours To Control,” prepared our hearts for the hearing of God’s Word. Mrs. Penny Gibbs brought an amazing message from the Bible. She used her experience of raising horses to teach us the importance of having a meek spirit. She even brought her bridle to illustrate her points! Many ladies responded as the Lord worked on their hearts. We thank the Lord for a successful night of ladies ministry!
