Sometime ago, I found a little acrostic that has been helpful to me, and I would like to pass it on in the hope that it will help others. When reading a passage, I use my “specs” to find any of the following things:

Sins mentioned that I need to forsake
Promises from God that I can claim
Examples given that I should follow or not follow
Commands that I should obey
Songs I can sing throughout the day as I meditate on this passage of God’s Word
