Stressed...

Trauma and the stress that can accompany it often keep an individual hyper-focused on the event, re-creating the trauma over and over, trying somehow to undo the feeling of helplessness and powerlessness through the negative ruminations.

How Godly Music Infuses Courage in a Christian’s Soul

Music is one of the most potent elements at work in the world. Its potential is manifested in man’s soul, culture’s movements, and a nation’s destiny. It was the eighteenth-century politician, Andrew Fletcher, who wrote, “I knew a very wise man that believed if a man were permitted to make all the ballads, he need not care who should make the laws of a nation.”

Four Realities of Serving with Courage

Profile picture for user Danielle Mordh
By Danielle Mordh, Tuesday, June 25, 2024

Nothing meaningful in a woman’s life or ministry happens without courage. Yet, as Christian women, so often we go through the routines of the expectations placed upon us with a sense of mere duty or even drudgery. Sometimes we become fearful of the pressures and demands of life.

God, however, desires that we embrace the responsibilities He has placed in our lives and the opportunities He has placed before us with a sense of Spirit-filled confidence and godly courage.

As you look back over history, the people whom God has used to change the world have been men and women of great courage. Reading biographies of their lives or their own writings can inspire our courage and ignite our faith to accomplish great things for God.

The three men highlighted in this article exhibited unusual courage. May their courage challenge us to fulfill God’s calling on our lives, even when it is difficult and requires courage.

Nothing compares to the privilege of serving in the house of the Lord! My heart echoes David’s: “For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness” (Psalm 84:10).

Discipleship: Helping New Christians Grow in the Faith

Profile picture for user Jacob Bundy
By Jacob Bundy, Thursday, March 14, 2024

One of the great joys of the Christian life is helping to nurture the faith of young Christians. There’s just nothing like leading someone to Christ and then encouraging them as they take steps of faith and grow in the Lord.

In its pure definition, New Testament discipleship means to be a fully-committed follower of Christ. This commitment should be the very DNA of our Christian walk.

What Does “Woke” Mean? And Why Does It Matter?

Profile picture for user Dr. Paul Chappell
By Dr. Paul Chappell, Friday, March 1, 2024

Woke is an odd word—and not just because it is a past tense verb that is now commonly used as an adjective. It’s odd because it has vague connotations without clear definitions. This ambiguity allows those who appreciate the word’s implications to write off those who criticize its implications as “just not understanding its meaning.”
