I love soulwinning! It is not something I feel I am good at, but I have learned that the more you go the more fruit you will have. I love the quote by Dr. Curtis Hutson, “The only alternative to soulwinning is disobedience to God.”

Have you ever taken an old piece of furniture and transformed it into a beautiful, useful object? It is not fun at the time. Remember inhaling stripping fumes, drying beads of exertion from your forehead, and absorbing blotches of staining fluid?

Acts chapter twenty-seven is the account of Paul’s voyage to Rome. The ship and the passengers Paul was with were severely endangered due to bad weather on this voyage. Although the ship was damaged beyond repair, thankfully, no one on board lost his life.

For many years pastors and mission boards have seen the wisdom of sending first term missionaries to the ministry of an established missionary who already has been working in that country.

When a man is called of the Lord to preach, preaching ought to be the passionate pursuit of that man. Jeremiah wrote, “But His word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.”

Many of us have or will face major challenges, obstacles, and opportunities in ministry. It is during these times we will feel a sense of inadequacy and uncertainty about what to do and how we will get it done. The eyes of those we have been called to lead are on us during those times.

People are not perfect, and to makes matters worse, saved people are not perfect. Jesus said in Luke 17:1, “Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come.” He says emphatically that offences will come—note the word impossible.

As I write this, I am sitting with my wife at her mother’s bedside in a skilled nursing facility. Having been in the ministry for more than thirty years, I have seen dying people, and it is obvious that my mother-in-law will not be in this world much longer.
