Drifting from God’s Plan for Marriage

Christians Must Stand for Biblical Marriage
Homosexual advocates continue to make gains in their efforts to legalize same-sex relationships. President Obama has decided not to defend the federal Defense of Marriage Act in court. DOMA is the 1996 federal law signed by President Clinton that allows states to refuse to legally recognize same-sex marriage, including those marriages performed in other states. Without a federal DOMA, the “full faith and credit” clause of the United States Constitution would require every state to legally recognize gay marriages performed in another state.

The Joy of the Lord Is Our Strength
The servant leaders who make the greatest impact on lives are those who have a genuinely joyful spirit. Joy is both compelling and contagious. Furthermore, the joy of the Lord is strengthening to us. Nehemiah 8:10 says, “The joy of the Lord is your strength.”

High Yield: Using the Fall Season to Its Fullest

3 Ways to Prepare for a Fruitful Season of Ministry
I anticipate every fall season as the fullest harvest time of the year for reaching souls. The fall is when our church has our annual Open House Sunday, and it is also when we have our annual time of training for new soulwinners. All in all, it’s a fruitfully busy time of ministry—if we are prepared for it.

The Problem with a “Little Sin”

It Carries Big Consequences
For several nights in a row I had felt a slight pain in my stomach while I was preaching. I didn’t think much of it—I chalked it up to be something I ate or perhaps the early symptoms of the flu. It was Saturday night, and I was exhausted from driving just over a thousand miles to a church where I would be privileged to speak all day on Sunday.

Teaching Children to Live for God
I love reading to my grandson, TJ. His mom, Brandie, and I are frequent browsers at the nearby used bookstore. It even has Bible storybooks! I enjoy getting those for TJ and Ava, his younger sister. I also get them for the girls in our Bible college to use in their Sunday school classes and their Saturday Bible classes.

A Sermon from Luke 13
Sermon outline: This is an abbreviated outline with the complete sermon downloadable at the bottom of the post. Introduction: We have all seen the signs that say “Repent or perish” or “Repent, the end is near!” We’ve also seen caricatures of those who carry such signs in cartoons. The picture usually includes a man wearing a ragged robe and an even more ragged beard.

By Jeremy Lofgren, Tuesday, September 11, 2012
It Is Easier Than You Think
First, you should understand what a podcast is and why it is useful. A podcast is a series of media (usually audio or video) files that people can subscribe to. If someone subscribes to your church podcast, every time there is a new recording, they will get it automatically.

Faith Cannot Be Developed in Comfortable Surroundings
Thomas Edison observed, “Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.” It seems to me that something similar can be said of faith.
