A well prayed over and planned for missions conference can be one of many energizing events that the Lord will use to increase our faith, enlarge our vision for the world, and remind us that every one of us have an opportunity to make a difference in lives we may not get to meet until we get on the other side of eternity!

What do you love? What consumes your heart and your life? Whatever your answer—this is your passion.

As you prepare all of the logistics of the trip, it is equally important that you prepare your team too.

It does the heathen little good if the church is full of called missionaries. The sending step is crucial.

The key to a well-organized missions trip is communication. Many aspects of the trip logistics need to be coordinated with the missionaries in the country you are visiting.

How can we accomplish this Great Commission? Is there a technique or element of technology we can use to boost our success stats? What should be our strategy?

This is where the rubber meets the road. You must formulate a budget to cover the expenses of your trip while keeping it within the reach of your people.

I went on my first mission trip the summer after I graduated from high school. Before that trip, I really had no idea what biblical missions was all about.

Find out what it will cost you to purchase items such as food, office equipment, furniture, transportation, housing, clothing, etc. Find out what things will cost you more there than in America.

Someone may be wondering, “Brother Sisk, how did you hear and see all these things in one day?”

One of the best investments you ever make as a missionary could be a planned visit to your field. The money you spend, which may be as much as several thousand dollars, will come back to you many times over.

The Great Commission has been called the great omission because it isn’t taken seriously by many who call themselves Christians.

I do not want to discourage you about finances because God can provide them. But you must answer this question before you go forward.

It must have been a difficult task for Elijah—asking a widow woman for her last meager meal. Before this, God had provided for Elijah through the ravens and the brook Cherith, but the birds stopped coming and the brook dried up.

While I was on deputation, I took advantage of the extra time I had to read. There are many good books on church planting, and I was able to read about ten of them before starting Hermosillo Baptist Church.

I often hear pastors say, “My people just will not come out for mission conferences.”

Jesus took His disciples with Him, and this small group of men took the Gospel throughout the world.

We once had what we called “general cleaning” at our Bible college. Everything on the property was thoroughly cleaned. Some of the students did “general cleaning” on what little grass, plants, and flowers we had.

The Philippine Islands are a main source for expensive pearls including “The Pearl of Allah,” which was proclaimed to be the world’s largest pearl at the time it was discovered.

For many years pastors and mission boards have seen the wisdom of sending first term missionaries to the ministry of an established missionary who already has been working in that country.
